MY SKETCHBOOK V. 1
Blog post two (in a row)
I'm not going to lie, I had to force myself to blog. So as I keep myself prisoner in this chair, fending off the temptation to watch season 1, episode 11 of "Scream Queens" (it's so good), I write this. It's going to be short, but about something super important to me – my sketchbooks. This will be part of a regular posting, where I'll share from various sketchbooks, new and old. Today I'll just share a few recent sketches.
But first – a bit about meditation. This is something I've been exploring for a few years now, and I still don't know what I'm doing. All I know is that I try, and it helps. It gets the squirrels out. Drawing has had the same affect on me. It's calming, and it helps me think clearer. In a way it's also meditation. I try to do this everyday, as part of my morning routine. Below are a few doodles from my recent book. I'm not going to get too descriptive – I have to get back to "Scream Queens".
(top/left): A view in Ibiza, from my travel photos.
(top/middle): A doodle of one of my cats. She looks pissed there.
(top/right): A buddha, this one was in an Airbnb that my husband and I rented in Montreal. (bottom/left): A study of a blue jay done for a commissioned piece – I had gotten really into studying the bird, until I reminded myself it was for a sports fan, not a bird enthusiast.
(bottom/middle): Shell study, I also have painted version of these.
(bottom/right): Flowers – just cause.
A recent sketch, finished today. Vernazza, Cinque Terre. I have painted three of the villages in Cinque Terre, this will be the next.
